Executive Committee
Hi, I’m Tom, the ECSU President. I am a third year Geographer at Emma! As most people will be aware, mostly because I will bring it up whenever I can, I ran on a platform for Trust, Community and Communication. My primary job is to represent the students of Emma in everything I do, including when I chair the committee and executive meetings (held weekly in the JCR) or when I meet with the college to discuss issues.
I would strongly encourage you to get involved with everything ECSU has to offer, student voices are central to the existence of our college and with strong student representation we can and have made change happen.
If you have any issues or questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Hi, I’m Matthew (he/him), a third year Natural Scientist specialising in Pathology and this year’s ECSU Vice-President. My role is twofold: supporting the President by acting as his deputy in college and ECSU meetings and organising a range of college events including Freshers Week, Halfway Hall and ECSU elections.
If you’ve got any questions about the role or otherwise please feel free to reach out at vicepresident@ecsu.org.uk or in person around college.
Hi, I’m Matt, this year's ECSU Treasurer and a 3rd year BioNatsci. My main role is to help make sure ECSU spends its funds as best it can to support the college community. Whether through administering society funding or pushing new ideas like the free NHS prescriptions scheme the role is extremely fun and a great way to support the wider committee.
If you have any questions or suggestions please do reach out if you see me around college or at treasurer@ecsu.org.uk.
Liberation Roles
Hiya, we are Astrid (she/her, HSPS) and Dani (he/him, Phys Natsci). We put on a variety of events each term for all queer students at emma, such as arts and crafts events, pub crawls and themed queer formals. We also play a pastoral role, acting as a point of contact to help support students with any queer related issues they may have within college or their personal life. In addition to this, we also help organise the gender expression fund, which is a pot of money that students can request to use for help with expressing their gender identity.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us via email or on instagram (@emmalgbtsoc)
Hey there! We are your Access & Class Act officers: Eleanor (she/her), Izzie (she/her), and Sonata (she/her). We’re in our third year at Emma, studying English, HSPS, and Archaeology. We’re passionate about making Cambridge a safe and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of background. Whether it’s through our outreach work, namely shadowing schemes and access weeks; community-building events, like formals and live band nights; or advocating for better support systems, such as disclosing available funds; we’re here to help.
Our roles involve working with the SU and College on outreach for prospective students, and ensuring that current students from Widening Participation backgrounds feel they belong and have a positive experience here.
We know many students face challenges due to their backgrounds, and we’re here to help. Feel free to reach out if you need support, have suggestions, or just want to say hello!
You can contact us via our Instagram @emmaclassact, or catch us around college!
Hi, I’m Susie (she/her) and I am a 3rd year natsci. My role includes helping to spread the word of DMH related matters, help people with applications to diagnoses, change things within the college to make it easier to access help for DMH related things, and just to be a friendly face to chat to in case you would like to discuss anything.
If you would like to contact me with any questions, then please feel free to contact me via email or stop to have a chat if you see me around college.
Other Roles
Hi, we are George and Saff and we are both second years, doing HSPS and archaeology. Our job is to put on alcoholic and non-alcoholic friendly events that every person in college can enjoy. These have included bar nights, study sessions, and recently a college-wide party to celebrate Emma Day. We also coordinate with other officers, often collaborating on events such as with the LGBTQ officers.
The best place to find us is on our incredible instagram (@emma.ents) or by either of our personal emails.
